FOSDEM 2009 November 9, 2008
Posted by Tobias Scherbaum in : Gentoo , trackbackAt least I’ll try not to repeat this year’s “problems” we had with our FOSDEM attendance, simply put we had none because everything went wrong. Everyone was relying on someone doing something - and when we finally realized that things didn’t happen like they should we already were far behind the schedule and weren’t able to get at least a booth for FOSDEM 2008.
Hopefully this doesn’t happen again - at least I mailed our application for both a devroom and a booth today. I also cought my first volunteer - thanks Fabian ;) He agreed to be the one who’s responsible for our booth (if we get one). Responsible doesn’t mean that he has to be at the booth all the time while everyone else is having fun at the devroom - it’s just to make sure someone takes care and things just happen. And just in case we get our devroom I volunteered to care for our devroom, which will probably mean I’ll try to get speakers and interesting topics together and make a nice and interesting program out of these.
It’ll take about 3 weeks from now on until we get feedback from FOSDEM whether we’ll get the requested devroom and booth.
That being said, I’ll set up a Wikipage during next week which we can use to track who’s there and what needs to be done beforehand. Looking forward to an interesting weekend in Brussels and looking forward meeting you at FOSDEM!
PS: Who still knows what this picture is showing and where it was taken? (ok, I must admit this is for insiders *G* - or people taking a look at *very* old GWN’s)
(And just in case you didn’t notice already - FOSDEM is *not* taking place the last weekend in february this time, but on february 7th and 8th.)

That’s the Gentoo G logo!
Also, I’d love to go to FOSDEM, but it’s way too expensive. Especially considering that later that month I’m already planning to be at SCALE.
Maybe one of these days I’ll make it out to Europe for one of these things…
Congratulations ;) Of course that’s our Gentoo G logo :)
…who remembers the quantum singularity? ;)
btw: I’ll be there and will be able to offer some transport though I’ll be there only for one day.
Congrats Marc ;) That’s the 100 points answer I wanted to hear :D Looking forward to see ya in Brussels :)
