A couple of numbers …

  • 5 years since I’ve joined Gentoo as a developer on December 7th, 2003
  • 2605 forums posts in the past 6 six years
  • CIA counted 5072 commit messages for me (plus the commits CIA missed)

oh … and

  • We’ll have 2 tables for our FOSDEM stand. Sadly our dev-room request has been declined :(
  • 105 (out of 245) voters participated in the election for Council’s open seat. Congratulations Tiziano! Interesting to see that voters reconfirmed the last election and ranked the (again running) candidates exactly the same like in the last election. Also the newly running _reopen_nominations candidate was ranked last!
  • bug 250000 reported in Gentoo’s Bugzilla (which is in fact only the 217642th bugreport). Andreas Proschofsky reported that “wonderful bug number“.

So, yeah … I still think Gentoo is about having fun :) Speaking of “fun” … there’s a quiz taking place on gentoo.de (targeted at German speaking users) where you can test your knowledge on Gentoo and maybe win an interesting book.

    Hmm, question 8 in the quiz isn’t actually correct, you can install all four packages, one just triggers some extra behavior ;)

    Hrm, that “extra behaviour” one can’t be installed, i.e. is not a package ;)

    bug number 250k != 250k bugs.
    The numbering is guaranteed monotonic, but not strictly sequential.

    We have only 217642 bugs so far.

    whee! Didn’t knew that the difference is *that* huge. Updated the post accordingly, thanks Robin!
