Endlich fertig!

Doppelstockluftpumpe

Vergangenen Mittwoch ging es mit Uwe mal wieder zum Geocachen. Zunächst stand “Die Fledermaus” auf der Liste, bei der wir einen zweiten Versuch benötigten. Diesmal mit weiteren Tennisbällen bewaffnet waren wir zunächst nur minder erfolgreich, konnten jedoch aus zwei Holzstöcken und einer Luftpumpe einen Cachefanger bauen und den Cache endlich erlegen ;)

Auf dem Heimweg ging es zunächst an der HOAG-Trasse, dann jedoch weiter am warmen Fluß entlang – auch hier ließ sich spät abends noch unbehelligt der Tradi am warmen Fluß erlegen.

Besuch am Flughafen Saarbrücken und in der Contact Air-Wartung

Anfang April ging es für die Piloten der Contact Air “Virtual Airline”, also quasi eine Gruppe von Piloten am Flugsimulator, zu Besuch an den Flughafen Saarbrücken und die Wartung der Contact Air. Mit einiger Verzögerung habe ich den Bericht dazu fertig bekommen, ihr findet diesen im Forum der Contact Air VA.

Neuer Toner? Neuer Drucker?

Bislang hatte ich ja spaßeshalber immer gesagt: Wenn mir in meinem vor Jahren für 40 Euro bei Ebay gekauftem HP Laserjet 2100 der Toner ausgeht, ist ein neuer Drucker fällig. So langsam ist es nun soweit, dass der aktuelle Toner regelmäßig zur Verbesserung des Druckbildes geschüttelt werden mag. Die Entscheidung dann doch für einen neuen Toner ist mir dennoch unerwartet leicht gefallen, der 2100er ist noch ein richtig stabiler Drucker alter Bauart und liebgewonnenes, solides Arbeitstier – und der nächste Toner zu 19,99€ sollte dann auch wieder einige Jahre halten.

Achja, Wordpress 2.8 hats mittlerweile auch hier (und in Sachen Blogperformance tut sich demnächst auch was – mehr dazu “die Tage” ;))

Back, somehow.

In the past few months (basically for nearly a year *cough*) I was working on another book, now that this one is finally done and probably will hit bookstores this month I’m somehow back. At least I’ll have much more free time for all things Gentoo :)

Sadly this project had some (minor?) impact on being member of Gentoo’s council for nearly a year now. I wasn’t able to be as active as I would’ve liked to and couldn’t spent as much time as I would’ve liked to. On the other hand I only missed a single meeting (where ulm proxied for me) and (at least that’s my pov) I was always well enough prepared for council meetings. But still then, I’m not sure if I should run for the next council again. I’m thinking of lots of pros and cons for quite some while – but well, there are still some days left to decide whether to accept or decline the nomination.

Angefixt und Mitgemacht

Gestern habe ich meinen ersten Geocache gehoben, zusammen mit einem Arbeitskollegen und Anhang. Heute war mir dann danach mal “allein” einen Cache zu heben – erledigt :) Es könnte durchaus sein, dass sich das zu einem neuen Hobby entwickelt …

Achtung: Gentoo ist jugendgefährdend! Frei ab 14!

Jörg Möllenkamp zeigt, was von Filterdiensten und Sperren zu halten ist: Nix. So ist das wohl beste deutschsprachige Solaris-Blog “default” jugendgefährdend. Wie man bei jugendschutzprogramm.de in Erfahrung bringen kann, ist etwa gentoo.de erst für Kinder ab 14 geeignet. Ja ne, is klar …

That being said, today I did shut down the gentoo.de Portage Overlay which was one of the oldest overlays around (it started somewhen in 2001/2002 iirc). SVN and distributed version control systems and also Gentoo’s Sunrise project made it quite easy to setup your own overlay – or just use Sunrise. There was no need for the gentoo.de Overlay anymore, therefore the decision was made to shut down the service on March 31th. Well, it took some days longer than announced – but the overlay is gone now.
